Cash Rebate Credit Cards

One way to maximize my returns is to reduce monthly expenses. So for me, I look specifically at cash rebate when choosing my credit cards. Air miles or reward points maybe good(if the conversion ratios are attractive), but why exchange for vouchers when you can get back cash credit?

Personally, cards with min spending doesn't entice me. My aim is to reduce spending and not to meet a higher target for rebate, unless the min spending is really low and easy to meet. My experience with credit cards so far are that most good ones give a cash rebate from 0.5% to 1% with no preconditions. CIMB Visa Infinite has a hassle free 1% cash rebate on all local purchase with no annual fee, also free parking at Marriot limited to 30 per day.

Most people I know are using OCBC Frank credit card to synergise with their OCBC360 3.05% interest. By itself, it gives a 0.5% cash rebate and a 6% rebate(max $60 a month) for online purchases and flashpay top ups with min $500 spending.

Then there is the ANZ Travel Visa Signature credit card. I am not really interested in its air miles conversion(although from its website it says best air miles earn rate for local spend), rather its 2.55% cash rebate if you convert your miles earned to cash credit. 2.55% cash rebate with no minimum spending! Thats better than most top tiered cards out there.

Only thing to take note of is its S$60,000 annual income eligibility and $200 annual fee which is waived for the first year. Upon renewal, you will receive 10k air miles which work out to be $182. That means after the first year, your annual fee will be $18 a year(that is if the conditions remain). That is pretty low for a 2.55% cash rebate card.

So far I think this is the highest(no minimum spending) cash rebate credit card out there. Hope the current cash conversion conditions & terms can last though.
