Blog posts piracy

Recently, many of my friends have notified me about a particular blog. Upon visiting the blog, I have noticed my old posts being snatched and used without my permission. The blog name is called "Passive Cashflow Seeker"  I kindly tried to tell the owner of the blog to take my posts down, but there was no reply and the comment section was disabled.

Here are just a few posts that were copied directly from my blog:

http://passivecashflowseeker.blogspot.sg/2013/10/trader-vs-investor.html
http://passivecashflowseeker.blogspot.sg/2013/10/my-take-on-passive-income.html

I wonder why would anyone do such a thing.

    2. Hi SGYI,

We should not accept such behaviour. On my wall in FB, we are having a discussion on this, asking The Finance to lead the way. Perhaps, you could help spread the word too.

We spend a lot of time and effort blogging and some freeloader comes along. It is simply unacceptable.

  2. My articles were also pirated. Seems this guy is copying directly from thefinance.sg including errors made by thefinance.sg 's automated aggregator.

This guy is trying to get advertisement revenue. He is using Google Ads. Is there a way to complain to google to take down this entire Blogspot and google ad?

    1. Hi Wilfred Ling

I tried to but, I don't think there is a proper feedback avenue in google. One can file a DMCA complaint if we think our copyright is being abused.

But that is for contents that are copyrighted :(

    2. From my understanding, the original creator of the works is the automatic copyright holder. Singapore is the treaty member of the Berne Convention which means creators do not need to register or apply for copyright.

  3. Wilfred,

Really? But I only aggregate an excerpt and I thought the site copied the entire article.

  4. Derek,

Some of his articles contain the errors that appeared on your site. Those errors are those which your aggregator couldn't handle. Example:

    http://passivecashflowseeker.blogspot.sg/2013/06/question-on-intestate-succession-act.html

    Compare with:

    http://thefinance.sg/2013/06/04/question-on-intestate-succession-act/

  5. My articles have been removed by Google from the pirating blog already. Reporting to google really works! But the pirating blog is still there. I guess it is up to the individual copyright owner to make their own complain.
