What is a Debt Ceiling Crisis?

Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of my blog if you wish to continue with the contents below.

Debt Ceiling Crisis is analogous to a mother being too ambitious in her spending for her kids. Her spending is so exorbitant that even her money lender refuses to lend her anymore money.

The money lender cannot, in his own discretion, increase her borrowing limit. This gives the mother limited options left. She can either reduce her own spending on her kids drastically, persuade her money lender to increase her limit or do both.

Failing to do any of the above would result in someone not getting paid, which would eventually turn messy. Messy isn't good.

The last I read(Reuter), The U.S. government has began a partial shutdown on Tuesday for the first time in 17 years, potentially putting up to 1 million workers on unpaid leave, closing national parks and stalling medical research projects..
